Free 15-Minute Physical Therapy Consultation with Kay

Kay Speaks about Physical Therapy at the Abington Public Library

Because back pain is so common in today’s world, Kay regularly speaks in the local community. She recently spoke at the Abington Public Library educating people on the McKenzie Method. This physical therapy practice allows the physical therapist to teach the patient how to heal themselves through the use of movements and positions to get rid of the pain. She may be speaking at the library again so make sure to catch her and tell her about your pain!

What Is McKenzie? How Is It Different From “Traditional” Physical Therapy?

The McKenzie Approach – also known as Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT) – is a system of evaluation and treatment using movements and positions to eliminate pain. It’s very targeted and specific. You won’t receive a page of exercises to perform! We are looking for ONE movement or position to resolve symptoms and you’ll receive an explanation for the cause of your pain. Modalities, such as ultrasound, heat and cold, are not used because they have been proven to provide only temporary relief, at best. The most important part of the treatment is for you, the patient, to be educated as to the cause of your pain and how – together – we will relieve your symptoms.
